Seeking an experienced and fully bilingual (French and English)  Household Manager to provide staff management, vendor management, event management, household management and driving of the Principal to and from the office.

 

This position is full-time and live-out in a semi-formal residence. Entertaining ranges from semi-formal to formal. The family home is in the centre of Montreal and consists of two adults and two teenagers. The Principal’s office is located close to the Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Management of the interior and exterior of the residence

  • Coordinating, supervising trades and vendors

  • Staff management of 3 individuals

  • Driving the C-Level Principal to and from the office

  • Event Management including planning with Principals, coordinating, executing, supervising and/or serving depending on the scale of the event

  • Liaising with caterers, florist, wait staff, rental company, etc.

  • Managing household budgets and providing monthly reconciliations

  • Occasional Personal Assistant duties to include anything ranging from personal errands to booking flights

  • Managing household inventories including toiletries, cleaning products and grocery items

  • Conducting errands

  • Preventive maintenance for the property to include booking trades on a regular basis to ensure that mechanicals are functioning properly

  • Sufficiently tech savvy to understand basic trouble-shooting techniques

  • Assistance in looking after family pets

  • Monitoring performance of household staff and provide training when required

  • Record keeping

  • Managing tendering process for larger scale projects

  • Managing and maintaining household security

  • Identifying repair and upgrade projects

  • Occasional cooking

  • Assistance with seasonal deep cleaning projects

  • Budget management and reporting

  • Anything else required from time to time

  • This job profile is dynamic and subject to change as family needs evolve and change

 

Skills and Aptitudes:
  • Must be thoroughly bilingual (French and English)

  • Should have experience in Household Management

  • Ability to coordinate, manage and work with contractors

  • An ability to provide schedule flexibility

  • An ability to navigate between semi-formal and formal roles

  • Excellent communication, organizational and critical thinking skills in executing decisions

  • Genuine desire to work as a member of the household team

  • Resourceful with an ability to multi-task with interest in learning new skills

  • Willingness to take ownership of management and maintenance of the residence

  • Ability to manage and motivate housekeeping staff and provide training if required

  • Experience in event management and execution

  • Should be a confident driver. Lessons can be provided to upgrade skills in this area.

  • Proficiency with technology including computers, cell phones, Wifi, Internet research, record keeping, completing and filing ongoing reports

  • Should be an efficient worker who is able to identify projects and maintain task calendars

  • An effective communicator using a variety of platforms

  • Ability to lift 30 to 50 pounds

  • Must have a valid Quebec Driver’s License and a clean driver’s abstract

  • Must currently hold status to legally work in Canada

  • Be prepared to sign a confidentiality agreement
