Seeking an experienced and professional driver to escort children  to and from school, five-days per week. This is a part-time and permanent position. The driver will be provided with an SUV to transport up to three children from their Caledon-area home to their King City school during school days (Monday to Friday). The driver would depart at approximately 7am to drop off the children and pick them for the return home at 4:30pm. This position likely suits an individual who is either retired or semi-retired and seeking a part-time commitment due to the nature of the schedule.


Depending on the person, their capabilities and their willingness to take on other tasks, the position has the potential to become full-time. The successful applicant must hold current status to legally work in Canada. They must have a G-Level Driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract so that they are insurable. They must be highly trustworthy.

Part-time Professional Driver Responsibilities:
  • To safely drive up to 3 children from their Caledon-area home to their King City school and return

  • The Driver will operate an SUV to transport the children

  • The schedule is a split day with a 7am pick up from the residence and a 4:30pm pick up from the school to the home

  • Making sure that the children all have on their seatbelts and are safe and secure

  • Transporting them safely to and from school

  • The ability to safely operate an SUV

  • Pick up of children is at 7am and they are transported to their King City school

  • Pick up of children from school is at 4:30pm and they are transported back to their Caledon-area home

  • Ensure the car is always mechanically sound, fuelled (the vehicle is fuelled at the residence)

  • Ensure the car is properly detailed, clean and presentable

  • The person may be asked, from time to time, to do errands. If this is the case, they will be compensated in addition.

  • Being aware of road and weather conditions

  • Being able to safely drive in variable weather conditions

  • Use of technology and smartphone apps for pre-planning of routes, researching road closures, traffic problems, identification of events that will slow traffic, and following weather reports

  • Other related or not related duties, as needed

Skills and Aptitudes:
  • Must have no criminal record

  • Three (3) years’ driving experience is an asset 

  • A valid driver’s license is a requirement

  • An accident free and ticket free driving record is a prerequisite

  • Experience safely driving SUVs is a must

  • A love and affection for children and an ability to engage them in a loving and supportive manner

  • A clean insurance record and ability to get insurance in Ontario are prerequisites

  • Good English communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Applicants should have a reasonable command of smartphone apps for mapping of routes and road closures

  • Adhere to all safe and legal driving practices

  • Experience driving in variable weather conditions

  • Excellent knowledge of road systems

  • Ability to impart a sense of confidence in passengers is key

  • The ability to demonstrate an appropriate level of courtesy, integrity, respect and discretion is essential. A polished and professional bearing is expected.

  • Must be punctual and organized

  • Maintain confidentiality and security at all times. Willingness to sign a confidentiality agreement is expected.

  • The candidate should be physically fit and able to lift 50 lbs

  • The candidate will use their own vehicle to and from work and then use the family vehicle to transport the children

  • The ideal candidate pays attention to details, has common sense and the ability to execute and “figure things out” 

  • The successful candidate will understand professional boundaries

  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada

  • This is a smoke-free work environment

Other Notes:
  • The position pays a flat day rate of $200

  • The person will work on all scheduled school days and be compensated for off-school days like statutory holidays

  • The person will be off during the summer season

  • An allowance for communication devices will be provided
