Job #083 Experienced Housekeeper for Caledon-area Family

An experienced Housekeeper is required to work with other staff for a Caledon-based family. This position is full-time and can be either live-in or live-out. The live-out person must be able to drive and have their own vehicle to get to and from work. This person will work as a member of a team that includes another Housekeeper and a Private Chef. Applicants should work well with others and be child-friendly, although there is no childcare.

 

The schedule is 40-hours per week with days that run from either 10am to 6pm or 11am to 7pm. There is weekend work involved. If the person chooses to be live-in, a very comfortable staff home is provided on the estate.

Full-time Experienced Housekeeper Responsibilities:
  • Working with another housekeeper, this person will be responsible for general housekeeping duties

  • Care and maintenance of fine surfaces and furnishings

  • Laundry and ironing

  • Wardrobe management to include checking garments requiring repair prior to being placed away

  • Daily detailing and tidying of residence

  • Management of cleaning product and toiletry inventories

  • Drafting grocery lists

  • Grocery shopping. A vehicle will be provided if the person drives. If not, a groundsman will drive the housekeeper for groceries.

  • Assisting with table setting and service on an as-needed basis

  • Seasonal deep-cleaning projects

  • Report any items that require repair or maintenance

  • Answering the telephone and taking accurate messages and relaying them in a prompt manner

  • Accepting deliveries and making sure that they are placed in a pre-designated place

  • Ideally the person can travel with the family for a few weeks out of each year

  • Always respect professional boundaries

  • Accomplish additional tasks, projects, and assignments on an as-needed basis

 
Skills and Aptitudes:
  • 5-years' professional housekeeping experience

  • Must have a personable disposition

  • An ability to work well with others

  • A G-Level Driver’s License is an asset but not a pre-requisite

  • Must be child-friendly

  • An attention to detail 

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Knowledge of cleaning and maintenance of fine surfaces and furnishings

  • Should have strong laundry and ironing skills. Stain removal knowledge is a definite asset.

  • The ideal individual is tidy, well groomed, active and health conscious, respectful and thoughtful

  • They should be quick learners so that they can pick up on the needs of the household

  • The person should be a good communicator who is not afraid to ask intelligent questions

  • Must be a pro-active self-starter 

  • Should be flexible with work schedules

  • This is a non-smoking household

  • Should be fit and able to lift a minimum of 30lbs

  • Must be prepared to sign a confidentiality agreement

  • If travelling, applicants must hold a current Canadian passport with no travel restrictions

  • Must hold current status to legally work in Canada
