Job #089 Executive Housekeeper required for Muskoka Residence 

Experienced Executive Housekeeper • Full-time, Live-out • Muskoka Area


We are seeking an Executive Housekeeper for a Muskoka property. This permanent position is full-time, live-out and year-round. Applicants must have professional experience working in a luxury home or luxury hotel, training and managing other housekeeping staff as well as managing inventories. They should also have knowledge in the care of fine surfaces and furnishings and strong laundry and ironing skills. Days of work are typically Monday to Friday, however, flexibility is required during peak seasons that will include weekend work. 


The position pays well, offers medical benefits and three weeks’ vacation. Executive Housekeepers with luxury hotel and/or luxury residence experience are encouraged to apply.

  • Lead and mentor a small core team responsible for all aspects of housekeeping 

  • Ensuring all daily housekeeping duties are executed to the highest standard while respecting the employers’ standards and being mindful and cognizant of preferences

  • Be open to suggest and manage evolving duties and responsibilities

  • Liaise and provide appropriate service levels to employers and guests

  • Schedule and execute cleaning projects on weekly, monthly and annual basis

  • Ensure exterior cleaning and maintenance of all outdoor “living areas” including cleaning of patio furniture, sweeping of walkways, etc. 

  • Purchasing and inventory control where applicable

  • Ensure the residence is as pristine and welcoming as possible

  • Anticipate the needs of employers and guests in advance of arrival and ensure that all requests are fulfilled in a timely manner

  • Ensure appropriate care of fine items such as wardrobe, artwork, and other valuables

  • Manage performance, set expectations, delegate assignments to housekeeping staff

  • Ensure all staff are trained to meet five star standards of the property

  • Set up staff schedules, approve time sheets and other related team management responsibilities

  • Work respectfully with other household staff, contractors, vendors and others to ensure successful operation of the property

  • Anything else required from time to time


  • Ideally have previous experience as an Executive Housekeeper for a high-net-worth family or equivalent experience

  • Must have strong people and staff management experience — including setting expectations, motivating staff, managing performance, coaching and mentoring

  • Excellent housekeeping and laundry skills and knowledge of cleaning and maintaining luxury surfaces and care of fine items

  • Must be flexible with work schedules for peak and low seasons

  • A boating license is an asset but not a pre-requisite

  • Must be service oriented with strong communication skills

  • Must be gracious and able to handle difficult situations in a professional, calm solution minded manner

  • Must be comfortable living year round in the Muskoka area

  • Must be highly self-motivated and engaged, fuelled with a passion for excellence and continuous improvement

  • Should be prepared to evolve and take on additional responsibilities 

  • Must be solution oriented, able to think outside the box, and have demonstrated ownership and accountability and a team orientation

  • Must be familiar with self-managing schedules and used to working successive long days during peak periods

  • Be able to anticipate and proactively prepare and execute on employers’ needs

  • Strong ability to multi-task with excellent time management 

  • Demonstrated pride and enthusiasm to fulfill requirements

  • A self-starter that can work effectively without constant supervision

  • Must have exceptional attention to detail 

  • Individual should have a polished and well-groomed professional appearance

  • Must have a G-level driver’s license

  • Must always exercise complete discretion and maintain confidentiality
