Job #176 House Assistant position with Toronto Family in Forest Hill

Seeking an experienced individual to provide general assistance for an established home in the Forest Hill neighbourhood of Toronto. The position is full-time, permanent and live-out.

The schedule is Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 5pm. The person must be a good driver, fully insurable and legally eligible to work in Canada. The position offers a full benefits package.

Applicants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Providing general assistance for the household

• Driving the Principal to and from appointments using the household vehicle

• Household errands

• Errands to and from the Family Office

• Deliveries to family members who live close by

• Dog walking

• Taking the dog to the veterinarian as needed and for grooming appointments

• Supervision of approved household trades

• Occasional assistance serving dinner (will receive time off in lieu)

• Take charge of garden and outside maintenance (there is a weekly gardener and arborist)

• Assistance to the caterer and wait staff for the occasional household events

• Basic housekeeping assistance in support of the housekeeper who has been with the household for many years. This might include vacuuming, dusting and general tidying.

• Basic assistance with cooking (if needed)

• Management of garbage and recycling

• Keeping outdoor entrances and walkways debris free

• Check any emails or phone messages on the cell phone that will be provided to the House Assistant

• Check on audio and video equipment before leaving for the day

• Provide advance notice of vacation or time of requests

• Any other duties that may be required from time to time

Qualifications:

• Must have a G-level license and be fully insurable. Household vehicle will be used for household purposes.

• Should have a working knowledge of city routes

• A confident driver who is comfortable driving others

• Must be dog-friendly and comfortable with dogs

• Good communication skills — written and verbal

• Trustworthy, reliable and punctual

• Table setting and service

• Good problem-solving skills

• Ability to provide flexibility in duties and schedule

• Eager to provide a high level of service

• Must be discreet, respect professional boundaries and maintain confidentiality at all times

• Polished, well-mannered and presentable

• Willing to sign a Confidentiality Agreement

• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. Sponsorship is not being considered.

• Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19

• Preference will be given to those who have a minimum 3-years’ experience working in a similar or related role
