Seeking a full-time Housekeeper Cook for a family in the Port  Credit neighbourhood of Mississauga. The family consists of mom, dad, and a toddler who will be attending day care in September. There is a gentle golden retriever too. The position is live-out and Monday to Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Having a G-level license and a car is a bonus but not deal breaker. A car can also be provided if needed, although the home is very transit accessible. There is a cleaner who comes once a week to vacuum, dust, mop, clean bathrooms, and wipe down surfaces.


The objective of the position is for the housekeeper to focus on housekeeping, cooking, and laundry, while the family pursues their careers and focus on their daughter and any future children. The goal is to achieve a happy home for all.


Applicants must be vaccinated against COVID-19 and be willing to get an annual flu shot. The home is a smoke and scent-free environment. Applicants must also hold current status to legally work in Canada. Sponsorship is not being considered.


The position pays well, offers benefits, and four weeks’ vacation. There is no work expected on statutory holidays.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • General housekeeping

  • Avoid cross contamination in cleaning and cooking

  • When cleaning, employ a least contaminated to most cleaning methodology. There is a young one in the home, so hygiene is important.

  • Cooking healthy nutritious meals (lunch, snacks, dinner that can be heat and serve for the family). The family will work with the housekeeper regarding menus and how they like to eat.

  • Laundry and ironing. Some clothing items are sent out for dry cleaning. Folding clothing and returning to designated location.

  • Post meal clean up of kitchen and outdoor BBQ area (if used)

  • Feeding of the dog and letting him outside in the backyard as needed. This is a shared responsibility with the family. The gentle golden retriever goes to doggy daycare. On days when this does not happen, take the dog for a walk and let him out into the backyard.

  • Childcare assistance when mom needs extra help. This is not a nanny’s job, but the housekeeper must be child-friendly and willing to help if needed.

  • Manage inventories and add to the grocery list (food, pantry items, toiletries, cleaning products, etc.)

  • Groceries if the person has a driver’s license. A car can be provided if the person does not have one. Groceries can also be ordered online. 

  • Assistance with entertaining (keeping powder rooms clean, help with set up, etc.). Overtime will be paid if it is incurred.

  • Management of garbage and recycling. Collection day is Monday.

  • Management of deliveries

  • Fridge cleaning on a weekly basis

  • Bed linen changed and laundered on a weekly basis

  • Inform the family of any problems in the home like a leaky faucet, running toilet, a plumbing leak, etc. Letting in vendors and take them to the problem area.

  • Organization of cupboards, closets, and drawers

  • Maintaining the robot vacuum mop system (training provided)

  • Bringing in the mail and recycling of flyers.

  • Answering the door in a secure manner

  • Using home automation to open and close blinds

  • Helping with packing and unpacking of clothing

  • This is a young family, so the position is dynamic and subject to change


Skills and Aptitudes:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ professional housekeeping experience in a private home

  • Strong housekeeping, laundry, and ironing skills

  • Comfortable home cook who can prepare nutritious meals (guidance provided)

  • Child friendly

  • Dog friendly

  • A G-level driver’s license is an asset but not a dealbreaker

  • A vehicle for work purposes is an asset but not a dealbreaker. Mileage will be paid. A vehicle may be provided.

  • Excellent knowledge caring for fine surfaces with a “do no harm” cleaning philosophy

  • Understanding how to avoid cross contamination when housekeeping and handling food. As there is a young one in the home, work hygiene and frequent handwashing are important.

  • An ability to work effectively with or without direction

  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)

  • The ability to demonstrate an appropriate level of courtesy, integrity, respect, and discretion is essential

  • Someone who is happy, personable, trustworthy, and takes pride in what they do

  • Must be punctual and organized

  • Maintain confidentiality and security of all household information

  • Must be fully COVID vaccinated and be willing to receive a booster shot if required

  • Willing to receive an annual flu shot

  • Willing to agree to a background check

  • Willing to sign a confidentiality agreement

  • The candidate must hold status to legally work in Canada
