Seeking a weekend (Saturdays and Sundays) Housekeeper for general housekeeping, laundry, and ironing and to assist with childcare for a family in the Port Credit neighbourhood of Mississauga. The family consists of mom, dad, and two young children (a newborn and a toddler). There is a gentle golden retriever too. Having a G-level license and a car is a bonus but not deal breaker.
The objective of the position is for the housekeeper to focus on housekeeping, laundry, ironing, and childcare as needed.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
General Housekeeping:

Maintain cleanliness and order throughout the home.

Follow hygiene best practices, including a least-to-most contaminated cleaning methodology.
Laundry:
-
Wash, fold, and organize clothing and linens. Some items will be sent out for dry cleaning.
Pet Care:

Let the dog outside into the backyard as needed and occasionally take the dog for a walk around the neighborhood (shared responsibility with the family).
Childcare Assistance:
-
Engage the toddler with age-appropriate activities such as reading, toys, and stroller walks.

Prepare simple snacks and handle bottle feeding on occasion.
-
Assist with diaper changes and toilet training as needed.

Restocking diaper changing essentials (e.g., diapers and wipes) at diaper change

stations in the home.

Help tidy toys and encourage the toddler to assist in tidying.

Helping with packing and unpacking of diaper bags or day trip essentials.
Household Maintenance:

Take out garbage and recycling (Monday is collection day).

Manage deliveries and packages, ensuring secure handling.

Notify the family of household issues (e.g., leaky faucets, running toilets) and

escort vendors to the problem areas when necessary.

Answer the door in a secure manner.

Organization of cupboards and pantry items.

Maintain a tidy fridge, freezer.

Help with putting away groceries.
SKILLS & APTITUDES
-
A minimum of 5 years’ professional housekeeping experience in a private home.

Prior experience as a nanny to young children.

Strong housekeeping, laundry, and ironing skills.

Ability to work Saturdays and Sundays.

Child-friendly and comfortable engaging in activities with young children.

Dog-friendly and comfortable handling small pet care tasks.

Excellent knowledge of caring for fine surfaces with a “do no harm” cleaning philosophy.

Understanding of cross-contamination prevention in cleaning and food handling.

Understanding how to avoid cross contamination with housekeeping. As there is a young

one in the home, work hygiene and frequent handwashing are important.

Ability to work effectively with or without direct supervision.● Good communication skills (verbal and written).

Courteous, respectful, and discreet, with a professional demeanor.

Trustworthy, punctual, and organized.

Maintain confidentiality and security of all household information.

Willing to agree to a background check and sign a confidentiality agreement.

Legal status to work in Canada.
Preferred but Not Required

A G-level driver’s license.

CPR or basic first aid certification.
