Seeking a Household Manager for a residence in the Etobicoke area of Toronto.  Reporting to the Estate Manager, the Household Manager will be responsible for overseeing the operations of multiple properties on behalf of a private family.

This position is full-time, live-out. A typical work week is Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm, however, flexibility outside of this schedule is required as needed, along with occasional travel to the different properties.

The position pays well, offers medical benefits, and three weeks’ paid vacation.

Applicants must hold current status to legally work in Canada. Sponsorship is not being considered.

Candidate Profile:

The successful candidate has experience working in a private residence, has an eye for detail, and enjoys keeping a clean and organized home (there are housekeepers). They will have a strong understanding of household management, and be comfortable supervising staff, contractors, and vendors. The role requires someone with a ‘do what it takes attitude,’ who is ready to provide hands on support as needed. They should be able to adapt to last minute changes or when things do not go according to plan. The Household Manager will have a collegial work attitude and be comfortable working within a team and taking direction when given. Finally, the successful candidate will always present as a polished and well-mannered ambassador for the family.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Working with the Personal Assistant, facilitate the households’ schedules and calendars

  • Supervision, training, and support of housekeeping staff among multiple residences

  • Occasional travel to other residences, both domestic and international

  • Management of household inventories and implementation of organizational strategies in conjunction with the Estate Manager and Personal Assistant

  • Assist with the ordering and purchasing of household inventories

  • Assisting with the care of dogs, including inventory and appointment facilitation

  • Greeting of guests and visitors, general mail and correspondence

  • Daily internal and external property walk-throughs to pro-actively identify issues requiring attention

  • Ensure all household mechanical systems, HVAC, plumbing, equipment, and fixtures are in good working order as per the household standard established by the Estate Manager

  • Supervision of home maintenance, repair, renovation work, and miscellaneous projects

  • Ensure household security protocols are followed

  • Vehicle management including regular maintenance, appointments, repairs, and detailing

  • Development of household inventories, checklists, and standards across multiple properties as per the standards established by the Estate Manager

  • Troubleshoot smart home technology, WIFI, and entertainment systems as needed

  • Run errands and other duties as needed

 

Applicant Qualities:

  • Be a self-starter with an anticipatory, service-oriented mindset

  • Possess excellent time management skills, be punctual, courteous, with follow through ability on assigned tasks and projects

  • Detail oriented

  • Must be familiar and comfortable working with a Mac operating system

  • Strong work ethic and adept at “invisible service”

  • Must be a team player able to motivate and work with staff to ensure a positive outcome

  • Must have a sense and respect of boundaries, exercise diplomacy, discretion, and confidentiality

  • Must have consistent access to a reliable vehicle

  • A driver's license and clean driving record is required

  • The home is a smoke and scent-free environment

  • Must have valid passport with no travel restrictions

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
