An exciting opportunity for a Travel Nanny to work for a family  who live in the Forest Hill area of Toronto. The Nanny will work collaboratively with a team of two other nannies to support a family with four school-aged children (8, 13, 15 and 17), with a focus on the two younger children who are supported by a staff of roughly ten employees.

 

This position is live-out, full-time, and involves domestic and international travel. Travel is mostly within Canada, US and Bahamas but could sometimes be other destinations. Accommdation will be provided whilst travelling.

The position pays well and offers a robust benefits plan. Applicants must hold current status to legally work in Canada and travel abroad. The Family is seeking a long-term relationship.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Travel with the family both domestically and internationally, which can be both short and long term and can be last minute.

  • The position is Toronto-based, however, summer months are spent in Muskoka for varying lengths of time

  • Support parents and parenting choices while interfacing with the parents.

  • Report to the Estate Manager.

  • Plan both active and educational activities (indoors and outdoors).

  • Create a fun and safe environment for the home and children.

  • Participate with the children in sporting activities that will include swimming, skate, ski, play tennis, and water sports.

  • When required must be able to work evenings, occasional overnighting (to cover for the overnight nanny when needed), and holidays.

  • Provide nurturing care and companionship, particularly when the parents are travelling

  • Child supervision and transportation (vehicle provided for work purposes).

  • Able to provide educational support.

  • While there is a Chef, there will be preparation of some meals.

  • Maintaining and organizing childrens’ wardrobes as well as doing childrens’ laundry.

  • Ensure that childrens’ play areas are kept clean and tidy.

  • When time permits, help other staff in their duties.

  • Work collaboratively with the other Nannies.

  • Keep the children safe, and calmly manage emergencies within family guidelines.

  • Protect the Family’s confidentiality at all times.

  • This position is dynamic, evolving, and subject to change.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous childcare experience with a private family (at least five years) in a similar position is required.

  • Ideal candidates will have formal educational development training.

  • A passion for working with children of all ages.

  • Formal training in early childhood education (or equivalent) is a definite asset.

  • Experience with play-based learning and creating educational activities (e.g., planned engaging activities at home, developmentally appropriate games, stimulating projects and crafts, scheduled outings, etc.)

  • Ideally have experience in a collaborative nanny team.

  • An ability to work successfully with various personalities, build strong, trusting relationships, and share information in support of the Family, children, and team.

  • A warm, positive, personable, calm, and affectionate personality that is open to spontaneity.

  • An ability to intuitively assess Family dynamics, have situational awaremness, be accessible nut not intrusive, and have tact and diplomacy.

  • The Nanny should be a critical thinker.

  • An ability to offer flexibility when needed.

  • Demonstrate unwavering integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.

  • Possess exceptional organizational & problem-solving skills, and dedication to responsibilities.

  • Able to keep up with a young and active child.

  • Must be a solid swimmer who is comfortable supervising and playing with children in the water.

  • High energy with an ability to ski, skate, play tennis, and participate in water sports would be considered an asset. 

  • A willingness to listen and learn from both the parents and work colleagues.

  • Strong English language communication skills (written and verbal).

  • Be comfortable communicating with the Family in real-time (e.g., by text or phone) and ideally be computer savvy with a proficiency with Macs (Apple products).

  • A valid Canadian Passport or equivalent (with necessary travel visas) is required; willing and able to travel domestically and internationally to support the Family, both with short- and long-term travel and last-minute travel.

  • Pet, specifically dog friendly

  • A valid Canadian Driver’s License, clean driving record, with a comfort level driving children.

  • Standard vaccinations are required.

  • CPF & First Aid certified.

  • Hold current status to legally work in Canada and travel abroad.

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Work location: This live-out position is based in Toronto, Canada, with frequent travel as needed. Summer months are spent in Muskoka for varying degrees of time.

  • Compensation: Highly competitive salary based on experience and background, with a robust benefits plan.

  • Schedule: Wednesday to Sunday, 1pm to 9pm is preferred schedule.
