Position Overview:
An informal family of three is seeking an experienced bilingual (French and English) nanny for their home in the Guelph area of Ontario. The position is live-in and requires that the Nanny have a full valid driver’s license. It’s an interesting country property that offers all sorts of opportunity for fun learning activities for a nanny caring for a one and a half-year old. The job suits someone who is kind, thoughtful, well-mannered, collegial in how they work, and always prepared to help out if they can. The Nanny would be part of a well-regarded and friendly team who works with the family and are always willing to provide a helping hand if they can.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Care and nurturing of a happy, loving one and a half-year old girl
Ongoing communication with the parents
Follow parental protocols for the nanny
Safe feeding of the daughter in coordination with the mother and family’s chef
Safe bathing, grooming, and dressing
Manage a nap and sleep schedule and aim for consistency
Diapering and toileting hygiene
Overnight care when required
Monitor health and recognizing signs of illness, fever management, and communicating with parents
Speak with the daughter in French to cultivate bilingualism
Reading French children’s books (or translations)
Introduce French through play, activities, song, and day-to-day care
Establish activities that are both fun and educational to promote language, reading, and motor skills
Laundering, folding, and organizing the girl’s clothing and bedding
Maintaining a clean, tidy, and safe play space
Pack and manage the daughter’s bag for any outings, including carrying a First Aid Kit
Maintain a safe environment at all times
Following all safety protocols when driving the daughter
Use an emergency contact list as needed
Travel with the family to various destinations (domestic and international)
Pack and unpack travel essentials
Manage the daughter’s routines across time zones
Always maintain confidentiality and discretion
No posting of photographs on social media or any public platform
Anything else that might be required from time to time
Skills and requirements:
Well-mannered, kind, with a willingness to work well with others
Bilingual with advanced French and English language skills
Experienced with very young children or infants
An ability to work independently while following parental guidelines
A valid G-level driver’s license and experience driving young children
Having a vehicle for the Nanny’s own personal use
An ability to be live-in and, if needed, overnight
The nanny should hold a valid passport with no restrictions and either already have or be eligible to receive necessary travel visas
Early childhood CPR and Childcare First Aid certification is an asset but not a requirement
Willingness to undergo a vulnerable sector check
Willingness to agree to background and reference checks
Willingness to sign a confidentiality agreement
Maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times
An ability to recognize signs of illness or potential danger and act accordingly
Early Childhood Education certification is a definite asset but not a requirement
Must hold current status to legally work in Canada
This is a non-smoking, vape-free workspace
Salary: $95,000 gross annual
