Personal Assistant & Executive Personal Assistant Recruitment

At Portico, we recruit both Executive Personal Assistants and Personal Assistants for busy households, executives, and UHNW families. While both roles are about support, they differ in scope, skill level, mindset, and responsibilities.

Personal Assistant is usually more reactive and project‑driven: they follow clear instructions, manage day‑to‑day tasks, and keep things running smoothly. Think of them as a highly organized right hand who manages schedules, errands, travel arrangements, and household logistics as directed. They’re excellent at staying on top of what’s asked, and they bring order and reliability for families.

An Executive Personal Assistant (EPA), by contrast, is more proactive and operates with a higher degree of autonomy. They don’t just respond to requests; they anticipate needs, spot problems before they happen, and often make small decisions on the employer's behalf. An EPA might adjust a schedule, redirect a piece of correspondence, coordinate multiple staff, or manage a private office or household operation with minimal oversight. They’re comfortable owning a broader scope and are trusted to act as a true gatekeeper and strategic partner.

At Portico, we look for:

  • Personal Assistants who are detail‑focused, reliable, and highly responsive, able to follow instructions with precision and keep everything moving without missing a beat.

  • Executive Personal Assistants who are anticipatory, calm under pressure, and comfortable making judgments within clear boundaries.

If you’re deciding whether you need a Personal Assistant or an Executive Personal Assistant, or you’re not sure what the right level of support looks like for your household or office, we’re happy to talk it through.

Contact Portico to discuss your assistant needs, and we’ll help you find the right match for your pace, expectations, and level of decision‑making.
